BeautyDel

Online Booking & Admin Dashboard

No matter how bad you want your hair or makeup  done by a professional, setting up an appointment and spending the time to go in and out of a beauty salon can be too much of a hassle. Luckily, we have mobile beauty salons.

Project Overview

Our client, BeautyDel, a mobile beauty salon was seeking to add an online booking system to their platform. I designed and created this web experience in close collaboration with two of my business partners (both full-stack developers), to reflect our client’s current brand. The goal was to increase customer satisfaction when booking appointments and reduce staff manual labour.

The Problem

Accessibility continues to be a challenge for busy people, stay at home mothers, the elderly and those with disabilities looking to obtain beauty services. These individuals cannot deal with issues such as booking complications, delays or the crowded salons of today.

03. Initial Design & Iterations

Low-Fidelity Wireframes

Moving onto the visual design, I started with low-fidelity wireframes and presented them to the client.

High-Fidelity Wireframes

After the client was satisfied with the initial wireframes, I then applied the client’s branding to create a high-fidelity wireframes.

Iterations

A few iterations were made based on the client’s feedback.

Iteration #1

In the initial design, customers were unable to add multiple orders of the same service. This common scenario occurs when customers want to be serviced together with friends/family in the same household.

Solution: I added a pop-up for the customer to enter the number of orders and the ability to customize each order in the following page.

Iteration #2

For those wanting to cancel an appointment, it was originally decided to display a pop-up telling users to call the receptionist. Later on, our client requested we add a built-in credit system into the platform.

Solution: I created a series of pop-ups which include the cancellation policy and the amount of credits recieved for those eligible.

Learnings From This Project

I. WORKING WITH A TIGHT DEADLINE

Relative to this project's deliverables, the deadline was fairly tight. I really had to make every work hour count without sacrificing the quality of the product. Thanks to my amazing teammates I was able to get the job done.

II. DEALING WITH LAST MINUTE CHANGES

Last minute changes are going to come up. Building a solid foundation for your design and making sure its malleable enough to build on top off was an important lesson I learned from this project.
